Community Partnership Awards honor Fifth Third Bank and Family Scholar House

Family Scholar House of Louisville, Kentucky (FSH) has worked to offer holistic services for disadvantaged single parents, their children and foster alumni for nearly three decades, but they couldn’t do it without the efforts of supporters like Fifth Third Bank and grants like the $5,000 Community Partnership Award from FHLB Cincinnati.

“Fifth Third and Family Scholar House are an incredible partnership and worthy recipients of one of our inaugural Community Partnership Award,” said Andy Howell, President and CEO of FHLB Cincinnati. “Congratulations to all involved – we look forward to seeing the impact of this grant in Louisville and beyond.”

Awarded to FHLB members in support of local nonprofit organizations, the Community Partnership Awards honor organizations and community initiatives that support one or more of four core focus areas: affordable housing, economic development, education and wellness.

Family Scholar House tackles many of those focus areas, historically serving single-parents pursuing postsecondary education, providing extensive wrap-around services including academic and career coaches, family advocates, and a health and wellness coach among a panoply of other programs and services.

“Family Scholar House is a transformative organization and Fifth Third Bank has had many opportunities to engage with Family Scholar House,” said Adam Hall, Vice President, Community and Economic Development Manager at Fifth Third Bank.

For over a decade, Fifth Third Bank has helped support FSH, providing both funds and volunteers that help with everything from career mentoring, financial education and even assembling playgrounds for the residents.

“Our partnership is centered around impacting our families and creating positive change for our community and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to learn about financial education and are equipped with the tools necessary to provide for themselves and their children,” said Kate Brackett, Chief Operating Officer of Family Scholar House.

With this grant, they hope to expand their services across the Louisville community.

“This will allow for expansion and growth for deeper services and a more expansive array of services for participants across the region,” said Kate Brackett, Chief Operating Officer of Family Scholar House. “We know the impact that a comprehensive holistic continuum of services can have for an individual and a family and this grant will make it possible for us to not only reach more people but provide more comprehensive services.”

“Fifth Third is very proud to partner with the nonprofit community to improve the lives of the people in the communities we serve,” said Hall. “We work every day to be the ‘One Bank people most Value and Trust.’”

Alongside supporting FSH, Fifth Third Bank is also an active participant in FHLB Cincinnati’s Affordable Housing Program and Carol M. Peterson Housing Fund, furthering their mission to be a critical partner within their community.
